I recently acquired an old Mac Mini 1,1! After reading through a repair manual, the first thing I did was upgrade the ram to 1.5gb and the hdd to the 160gb drive from my EEEPC 900HA. Afterwards, I reinstalled OSX (upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard) and let it update to the 10.6.8.
While the specs of the machine aren't great, they aren't bad enough to warrant discarding it. Therefore, I partitioned the disk and performed a stripped, netinstall of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I was thinking that I could turn it into a compact file server or something similar...
